Rebecca Lenaerts exhibits in Charleroi
From September 23rd 2011 until 15 January 2012 Rebecca Lenaerts shows her audiovisual installation Trekvogels/Oiseaux Voyageurs at the Museum of Photography in Charleroi. Belgian born artist Lenaerts is fascinated by audio-stories, storytelling and the theatrical possibilities of sound and image. Xavier Canonne, director of the photomuseum, invited her to create an artwork based on a collection of 1500 slides: images made by an unknown couple during their holidays in the 1950’s untill the 1970’s.
Earlier this year, Lenaerts participated in citybooks Sheffield. She wrote my humble home / aan huis geketend / fourgon fermé, and developed an artistic language course in Dutch: Lost in Translation for the School of Modern Languages of the University of Sheffield. The Museum of Photography Charleroi is co-organiser of citybooks Charleroi.
The exhibition opens the 23 September at 19:00 and runs until the 15 January 2012. More information at www.museephoto.be.
The exhibition is a co-production of Fotomuseum Provincie Antwerpen, Musée de la Photographie Charleroi and FLACC.
