De Literaire Loketten: citybooks Turnhout

In 2012, Turnhout was the cultural capital of Flanders. deBuren, too, did their bit, and invited authors from Belgium and beyond to write a citybook about the city known as the ‘pearl of de Kempen’. On the 10th of April citybooks Turnhout will be festively presented. Maxim Februari and Chika Unigwe will read from their citybooks during a literary lunch. citybooks editor Willem Bongers-Dek will talk to the authors about writing, Turnhout, and writing about Turnhout. And, as if that wasn’t exciting enough, all those present will receive a beautiful book with all of the stories in two languages to take home!

Alongside Maxim Februari and Chika Unigwe, Walter van den Broeck, Lasha Bugadze and Peter Terrin also wrote city stories about Turnhout that you can read and listen to at Kakha Kakhiani made a series of 24 photographs that will also feature in the citybooks exhibition in the Brakke Grond.
