In short : News about the citybooks authors, translators and more!
Thirteen Dutch and Flemish booksellers selected the best European novels that appeared in Dutch translation over the last year. The longlist of the Europese Literatuurprijs 2013 features the translations of translators that have also translated citybooks: Manon Smits (Davide Longo), Jan Willem Bos (Adrian Schiop and Răzvan Rădulescu) and Karol Lesman (Marcin Wroński and Andrzej Stasiuk). The awards ceremony will take place at the start of September, during Manuscripta 2013. Warm congratulations to the nominees and, in advance, to the winner!
Onno Kosters (citybooks Graz and Utrecht), together with Han van der Vegt, made a new translation into Dutch of Seamus Heaney’s District and Circle. Read more...
Ten novels that present good opportunities for film versions have been selected for a presentation at the annual Books at Berlinale. Amongst those chosen from well over eighty submissions, is I Called Him Tie by Milena Michiko Flašar (citybooks Graz and Ostend). Congratulations, Milena!
Verbeke will also be the guest of honour during the climax of Liefde tussen de Lijnen event (Love Between the Lines) in Ostend.
Andrzej Stasiuk’s citybook about Lublin appeared in LAJF Magazyn Lubelski in December. In January, the magazine will also publish Marcin Wroński’s citybook about Chartres. Both stories are online as podcasts available to listen to in Polish.
