citybooks: news in brief

Short news about the citybooks authors and photographers. Ester Naomi Perquin, Peter Terrin, Pieter-Jan De Pue, City One Minutes and more!

 

Ester Naomi Perquin © Roeland FossenOn the 5th of October, the 2013 laureat of the Hugues C. Pernath Prize will be announced during an afternoon of poetry at the Letterenhuis in Antwerp. One of the four nominated collections is Celinspecties (Cell Inspections) by Ester Naomi Perquin, whose citybook about Bucharest is available to listen to here

 

The upcoming edition of Septentrion will feature a number of letters from the French translation of Peter Terrin’s citybook The Truth of the Matter. Previously, Septentrion published excerpts from Cees Nooteboom’s citybook Venice 2012.

 

 

In September, the citybooks photos by Pieter-Jan De Pue from Yerevan were exhibited in their place of origin. His work was last on show there in the context of the citybooks Yerevan book publication celebrations this spring. You’ll find photos of that exhibition here.

 

abdelkader benali © henriette louwerseOn the 24th of September, Peter Terrin (citybooks Turnhout) and Abdelkader Benali (citybooks Skopje, Sheffield) were, amongst others, special guests at BOZAR in Brussels. They spent the evening discussing their literary heroes; respectively Franz Kafka and Honoré de Balzac. More information here...

 

The literary magazine DW B has published an edition in which 17 authors enter into dialogue with the miniature paintings by Robert Devriendt. Those authors include the citybook writers Jeroen Olyslaegers (Ostend and Utrecht), Saskia de Coster (Skopje and Stellenbosch), Atte Jongstra (Venice), Astrid Lampe (Utrecht), as well as a text by citybooks coordinator Willem Bongers-Dek.
