citybooks Antwerp presentation & BesteBuren closing party
During Valentine’s weekend 2016, citybooks Antwerp took to the stage in deSingel in Antwerp. The citybooks presentation was part of a weekend full of Flemish-Dutch festivities with which the BesteBuren year was brought to a close.
2015 was the year of BesteBuren (Best of Neighbours), a year in which Flemish-Dutch creativity and cultural collaboration were celebrated. citybooks Antwerp is one of the many projects by which the links and exchanges between the two countries were bolstered.
Writers Michael Bijnens, Rebekka de Wit, Ghayath Almadhoun, Frederik Willem Daem and photographer Garry Loughlin were the afternoon’s guests at deSingel in Antwerp on the 14th of February. They read from their citybooks and struck up conversation with Willem-Bongers Dek (deBuren). As the icing on the cake, the Dutch singer-songwriter Lucky Fonz III performed a set of his heart-warming songs.
