Bru∙Taal Festival & citybooks Bruges
From 5 -13 May, Bruges is the location for the brand new literary festival Bru∙Taal. A wide a range of activites takes place with international authors. In the larger framework of the festival, citybooks Bruges takes place. The first author to reside in and write a citybook inspired by this historic city is Hagar Peeters. Her citybook will be published this summer. Hagar is a guest during the festival too in several programs.
deBuren participates in some of the events during the festival:
Bru·Taal's opening night is a truly cosmopolitan affair. Eight international authors are travelling to Bruges with their favourite cities in their pockets. Journey with them to Genoa, Rome, Damascus, Algiers, Paris and South America as they read from their own work.

Fatena's poetry salon

Palestinian poet Fatena Al-Ghorra presides over an exclusive poetry salon with a Middle Eastern flavour.

During Bru·Taal, the literary program of the library Lees Meer! hosts international authors and poets. Adriaan van Dis, Annelies Verbeke, Ghayath Almadhoun and Anne Vegter will be interviewed about their work by Ann De Bie.
Meet Hagar Peeters on 13 May:
- 13:30 - 14:30 : A talk about her residency in Bruges, with Mira Feticu. Location: Poortersloge.
- 16:00 - 17:15 A High tea & Poetry, location: Huiskamer, Lange Raamstraat 18
