On October 6th she will be present for a literary evening during the Un|settled festival. Melandri will share the stage with poet Ghayath Almadhoun and author Kader Abdolah. The three authors and hostess Alicja Gescinska participate in an intriguing conversation about migration. They will speak about their own experiences or why, as writers, they are fascinated by the subject.

© Ulli LustAustrian cartoonist Ulli Lust resided in the city of Haarlem for two weeks In Februari 2018, to create a citybook about this Dutch city. The result is Lucky City, a city portrait in 20 drawings. The series will be exhibited in the Haarlem Town Hall during the Comics Festival Stripdagen Haarlem from 25 May until 3 June.

His tour included London, Nottingham and Sheffield where he worked with 4th year students of Dutch on the English translation of his citybook ‘DOLOR: Official Punk in Karlsruhe’. © Marc de fotograafLeeuwarden is the European cultural capital of the year 2018. In the context of Leeuwarden-Fryslân 2018, a new project of citybooks is taking place. Four authors and two photographers were invited to plunge into the Frisian capital, together with the local partners Explore the North, Lan fân taal and Leeuwarden Culturele Hoofdstad (Leeuwarden Cultural Capital). The first authors taking part are Hassan Blasim, Erik Vlaminck and Arjan Hut. Others will be announced soon.

Annelies Verbeke, Gustaaf Peek and Bouke Billiet were invited by deBuren to reside two weeks in Indonesia to write a citybook. During the EUROPALIA Indonesia arts biennial, these authors are present at a literary afternoon to talk about their experiences in Jakarta and Semarang.

DermotBolgerThe Irish author Dermot Bolger is the fifth guest author in Ypres. His citybooks residency coincides with the centennial commemoration of the death of Francis Ledwidge. This Irish poet and soldier fell during the Third Battle of Ypres. On 31 July 2017, Bolger will deliver an address during the official commemoration in Ypres.

Carmien Michels wrote the citybook Not Long Now about Munster. For the English translation, Carmien crossed the channel to where students of Dutch at British universities got to work translating her citybook. The students worked under the guidance of translator Jonathan Reeder as part of the UK Collaborative Translation Project 2017. Read more and watch the video.
